Access

Access from the road

There is a large private parking space (loose chippings) which measures 3.6m wide x 8.5m long and is accessed directly from the road. As there are usually cars parked on the road, either side of the parking slot, it is best to reverse in.

There is a PIR light which will come on if you park after dark.

From your car, the gate to Bell House is within 4m on level ground. Inside the gate Bailey's Barn is immediately on your right. There is a small step down (about 7cm/3in high). If this would be a problem for you, please let us know and we will work on a solution for you.

There is a keysafe on the wall, to obtain the key to Bailey's Barn. A code will be shared with you before you arrive and will change after you leave. Once you open the door there is a small brass threshold to cross, less than an inch high.

Access inside

Once inside, everything is level and the flooring throughout is smooth laminate.

The main door opens into the living room and kitchen. On the other side of the kitchen is the door to the bedroom (83cm wide). inside the bedroom is the door to the en-suite (83cm). The en-suite is not likely to be large enough to fit a wheelchair. If you need other mobility assistance, such as handles, please contact us.

Ceilings

From the outside the barn looks like it should have low ceilings - it doesn't! The main door height is less than 6ft, after that most of the barn has ceilings almost 4m high. There is a wonderful sense of space, light and height inside; it is a real surprise!

Access outside

There is an enclosed courtyard outside the front of the barn, which is for you and your pets to use. This is lit and has outside electrical sockets, and a table and chairs. There is a tap just outside the door, for washing boots, bikes or dogs, set low on the wall. The three features to note are:

- the multi-coloured lights under your control

- the cheese press, which is lit with an LED spotlight

- the ancient stone trough wildlife pond

The courtyard is also accessed by the postman, milkman and other visitors from the road, to get through to Bell House, so before you open your door to go out please make sure the gates are closed and there is no-one on the path.

There is an enclosed rear garden acccessed from the back of your parking space, or via the larger car park 10m along the road. This has fabulous views of the Peak District, comfy garden furniture and a safe space for barbecuing. It is a great place to see the night skies and 'batty' the local pipstrelle, in season.

Lights

There is a light which will come on when you walk through the gate, showing you the way to the door and illuminating the keysafe and keyhole.

One of the lovely things about Uppertown in Bonsall is that there are very few streetlights and therefore, on cloudless nights, a great view of the stars. It's lovely to sit outside, listen to the silence, and look at the sky.
