Directions for Bailey's Barn – UK4130
Satnav instructions
The postcode for Bailey's Barn is DE4 2AW - however all the homes in Uppertown have the same postcode, so satnav will take you to the centre of Uppertown, not to Bailey's Barn. You will probably be guided to Bonsall Camp, in Uppertown Lane. If so, with Bonsall Camp on your left, take the first right turn and Bailey's Barn is the first house on the left hand side.
Driving instructions
FROM A6 AT CROMFORD LIGHTS, turn onto the B5036 towards Wirksworth. After 150m turn RIGHT onto the A5012 (“Via Gellia”) towards Newhaven. You are now going up a steep wooded valley. After ¾ mile (1.2km) turn RIGHT into onto Clatterway; you are now at the bottom of Bonsall village.
Continue up Clatterway for 500m until you reach a junction at The Fountain tea room; there is also a monument with railings around it. Do not turn left here (onto The Dale). Stay to the right on Yeoman Street.
After 300m you will reach another junction at The Kings Head pub and another monument, surrounded by steps. This is the famous Bonsall Cross which dates from the Middle Ages. Although it looks like a roundabout it is not, so you do not have to drive around it. Keep to the LEFT and continue on High Street.
After 550m take a LEFT turn into Abel Lane (signposted Hollies Farm Plant Centre). At the end of this road you will be opposite Hollies Farm Plant Centre. Turn LEFT (this is an unnamed road but often marked on maps as Moor Lane). Your holiday cottage is the last property on the right, before the junction.
Look for the parking space marked ‘Bailey’s Barn’, it is best to reverse into this. If you park on the road please note that the bus needs room to pass. Once you have parked go to the small wooden gate marked ‘Bell House’ and Bailey’s Barn will be found just inside the gate on the right.
