Bonsall

A historic and award-winning lead mining village, there is plenty to see and do. Most of Bonsall is a conservation area (open the map) and some of it is also in the Peak District National Park. There are several listed buildings, including framework knitting workshops, the church and cross.

Eating and drinking in Bonsall - There are two pubs: The Barley Mow and The King's Head, both of which serve food. There is also a very good tea room which serves food, called The Fountain, next to the park.

Walks and history - opposite Bailey's Barn at the corner of the lane you will see a map which shows several history trails round the village. There are also copies of leaflets for these walking trails in the barn as well as OS maps, a wall-mounted illustrated map of the village and a copy of the local footpaths map.

Plants and gardens

Just a few metres along the road from Bailey's Barn is Hollies Farm Plant Centre where you can view and buy plants. admire the award-winning hanging baskets and look round the beautiful gardens. Also worth a look is Cascades, at the bottom of the village; a private house with 4 acres of gardens including a cascade. Cascades opens as advertised and also has plants for sale.

Peak District National Park

There are fewer than 20 homes in Bonsall that are in the Peak District National Park and Bailey's Barn is one of them. In fact the Peak District starts as you walk through the gate, as Bell House and Bailey's Barn form part of the eastern boundary of the park.
